Permanent & Temporary (Sole Charge Nanny)

A Sole Charge Nanny is dedicated to caring for the children of just one family. They have full responsibility for all aspects of the child’s care, and provide individual programming and care for your children.

  • 1. Permanent Nanny
Also referred to as in-home carers, a permanent nanny generally look after children in the home and are responsible for managing the children’s daily activities in and out of the home for longer than 3 months.
  • 2. Temporary Nanny
Generally, temporary nannies work with a family for 3 months or less. Temporary nannies may be requested for any type of service including babysitting.

Babysitter / Casual Nanny

The principal responsibility of a babysitter (or ‘sitter’) is to keep the children safe and cared for in their parent’s absence. This may include making sure the children are fed according to the parents’ instructions, bathed and put to bed or just looked after in a safe environment until the parents return. This differs from a nanny as a sitter isn’t responsible for fostering the holistic growth and development of the children on a daily basis.

Mother’s Helper

A Mother’s Helper works collaboratively with a mother or parent to help deliver care for the children. Generally the assistant will be carrying out many of the scheduled tasks on her own, with a parent usually present in the house to provide overall supervision. Mother’s Helper is a qualified career nanny similar to a Sole Charge Nanny, the only difference between these packages being that one of the parents is within the home with the nanny.

Nanny Share

A nanny share, or “share care,” is just as it sounds. Instead of caring for just one family, a nanny cares for the child or children of two or more families at the same time.

The best way to start this is by applying with another family whom you would like to share a nanny with.

Typically, nanny shares are comprised of two families, who are often in the same neighborhood, who have children in the same age range. The nanny can care for both family’s children under one roof, or split time between each family’s home.

This is an excellent way to have a nanny, with convenient in-home, professional childcare you can afford.

Night Nanny

A New Born Care Specialist or Night Nanny is a childcare professional who works overnight shifts after the baby arrives home from the hospital. They may also perform light housework that relates to the baby.
